When it boils down to it, preference is what counts. Both Mixxx and PCDJ DEX are powerful software and both have specific pro's and con's dependent on your needs. Here we will briefly explain each and leave the deciding what's best part to you. Since we're no experts in this software we can only summarize, we ask for your feedback in which you prefer and why. Atomix VirtualDJ Pro
VirtualDJ is not cheap, $300 will have to be coughed up for the full thing. Get the pro version though, and you're set with some hugely flexible "pro" capabilities.
Above all else, VirtualDJ Pro can run everything up to 100 digital decks. It is compatible with the ReWire software, so that it's able to run simultaenously with many different DAW's, opening a whole plethora of new avenues for the music maker.
Updates of recent have realized a whole lot of tools. The previous version saw the audio engine built anew with the added sandbox feature for previerwing and the improved sampler, amongst many more.
As of recent the developers seem to have their sights on improving the look and feel of things. Video Skins provides a method to demonstrate your DJ capabilities in real time on the stage, and new visual software allows for auto generated video to accompany your work. As if that wasn't enough there's an automated scratching tool with a toj of new ways to get your stuff out on social media sites.
There is no free version unfortunately. The good news is, the software is rather cheap for what it offers. For under $20 a month you can get access to all this software.

Mixvibes Cross
From the acclaimed producer Mixvibes we get Cross. It's went through a lot of versions as of recent, with the result of a lot of awesome features. Decide which version suits you best, the popular Cross DJ, or Cross, which adds the ability to mix video features.
The plugin gives the ability for new custom UI that contains four decks, two 8 slot samplers, and 8 cue points. There's framework for a large amount of controlls, and digital vinyl configurations, and it's even possible to get your music library from Pioneer's rekordbox.
If you like SoundCloud you're in luck. There's a ton of support for it, as well as Itunes.
On top of all that there's an awesome remote control app for app, that acts as a screen for browsing audio bits or as away to use the software decks remotely.
