RING-O is a ring modulator effect plugin. Modulation source can be the left and right side of a stereo signal modulating each other, or a stereo signal modulated by RING-O’s internal oscillator. The internal oscillator has different wave forms, the pitch can be adjusted manually or by incoming MIDI notes. BassPlus is an enhancer for low frequencies. Intended for drums, but works on other signals too of course. It’s not a fixed EQ, but has a detector for lower frequencies and enhances them and/or adds a new subtone to it. There are 8 filter bands, each with a volume and frequency knob. The overall bandwidth of the filters can be adjusted too. This is a dual-modulated multi-filter! The cutoff of an LP/BP/HP-filter can be controlled by an LFO and/or a step sequencer. The step sequencer can also control the speed or the modulation amount of the LFO. Both are synced to host. The LFO can also run at audio rates! (manual or by incoming MIDI notes). The BFS-1 is a VST emulation of the famous Bode frequency shifter. The original unit was available as an expensive module for the Moog™ modular system. The frequency shifter is not a pitch shifter, which changes frequencies by a multiplication. Instead, it shifts all frequencies/harmonics by adding a fixed amount. The sound reminds to a ring modulator, but unlike this, it is possible to get the upshifted and downshifted signal separately. Unlike a ring modulator, the frequency shifter is also capable of changing the signal by a low amount, e.g. 1 Hz, to obtain effects known as “Barberpole flanging”. This plugin has some additional features like delays for each section, an LFO (all host synced), an envelope with MIDI trigger and an envelope follower to modulate shift and/or volume.
