Incredible Facts About American Christmas Music!

12/23/2021
With the chilly weather it signals the arrival of winter season, which means it’s time to pamper our desire for Christmas again. The best way is to get deeply lost in the Xmas music by Frank Sinatra, Mariah Carey and more. But before indulging into the Christmas music, let’s talk about the history of American Christmas music and get to know the facts about it. Starting with the most famous Christmas song “Jingle Bells”. We associate this song with Christmas but do you know that this song was originally produced for Thanksgiving, yes you read it right. This song was written in 1857 by James Lord Pierpont to honor Thanksgiving. Another interesting fact about this song is that it is the first song that was performed in space.  The Xmas holiday contained the elements of Christian, Pagan and secular, from Medieval Christmas festivities ahead. The holiday season was celebrated with so much zeal and zest during the 17 th and 18 th centuries, American colonist used to do mumming practices, containing pranks, costumes, dancing and musical instruments. In the 18 th century, sacred Christmas music was written by Boston tanner and composer William Billings. American Christmas music gained immense popularity during the 19 th century in the United States, which was developed from various immigrant traditions. Other people also played their part to the popularity of Xmas traditions, one of them was Charles Dickens who put forward his two successful novels “The Pickwick Papers” (1836-7) and “A Christmas Carol” (1843). During this era, the celebrations of Xmas included Christmas caroling which used to happened door-to-door, Christmas cards and living nativity scenes. (Get more of Christmas music, only on https://www.loopazon.com). In the 19 th century, there were several classic Christmas carols were delivered which included “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” (1849), “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” (1863), and “Away in a Manager” (1885). In the 20 th century, the Christmas music gained huge success via the radio, television and film. The major part played in the success of Xmas music was by Hollywood by producing films like “Holiday Inn” (1942), “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” (1964), “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946) and “A Christmas Story” (1983). Benjamin Hanby’s “Up on the Housetop” was the first Xmas song that mentioned Santa Claus. This song was written in 1864 and was an inspiration of 1823 poem “A Visit from Saint Nicholas” by Clement Clarke Moore that included going down the chimney and a sleigh on the roof. In 1953, Gene Autry covered this song and he became instant famous. One of the oldest Christmas hymns is “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” which still get airplay. During the 12 th century, this hymn was initially produced in Latin. Later, it was translated into English in 1851 by John Mason Neale. (Visit  https://www.loopazon.com for Xmas songs). The three famous Xmas songs were written by Jewish songwriter Johnny Marks which were “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Holly Jolly Christmas”. Another Jewish songwriter Irving Berlin wrote “White Christmas” which was initially planned for a Broadway musical that unfortunately was never produced. Later, in 1942, it was picked up by Hollywood producers who produced a movie Holiday Inn starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire and used this Xmas song in this movie. This version of “White Christmas” starring Bing Crosby is all time highest selling single. There was another version of this song by Elvis Presley which Irving Berlin hated to the core, he even tried to stop radio stations to play Presley’s version. The most interesting fact attached to this song is that it was played by American army, in April 1975, over Armed forces radio as a signal for soldiers to vacate Saigon.  The second Xmas music to be broadcasted on radio was “O Holy Night” in 1906 which was a violin solo. Originated in 1700s the two of the oldest English Christmas hymns are “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Joy to the World”. The song that made its way into the Christmas songs list without mentioning about the holiday once is “Let It Snow” which was also written by two Jewish songwriters Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. One of the famous Xmas songs “My Heart Will Go On” is written by Celine Dion who was also a co-writer of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”. In 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis famous songwriter Gloria Shayne Baker wrote a song as a plea for peace which was “Do You Hear What I Hear?”. One of the famous holiday classic song “Silver Bells” written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evan was initially titled as “Tinkle Bells” (as per the book “America’s Songs: The Stories behind the Songs of Broadway, Hollywood and Tin Pan Alley by Philip Furia and Michael Lasser) but Livingston’s wife clarified that trinkle was often used as a synonym for urination and then they have to change it to Silver Bells. The most famous character of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was not originated in Jonny Marks’ classic Christmas jingle, rather it was created by a staff copywriter Robert L. May who worked for Montgomery Ward department store. He came up with this character of reindeer for holiday themes series of coloring books offered by the retail giant.  One of the oldest secular Christmas songs is “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” which originated in 16 th century in England. During a summer heatwave in 1944, “The Christmas Song” (commonly known as “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”) was written by Mel Tormé. Darlene Love sang her holiday hit “Christmas Baby Please Come Home” on David Letterman’s late-night show for 28 years. The original version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” was recorded by singer Brenda Lee when she was only 13 years old. Another Jewish songwriting duo Felix Bernard and Richard B. Smith wrote “Winter Wonderland”. The famous “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” was written by Randy Brookes in 1978, the interesting fact is that it was sung by an actual DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) Elmo Shrophire. (Log on to https://www.loopazon.com to listen to your favorite Christmas music). Another interesting fact is about the famous Xmas song “You are a mean one, Mr. Grinch”. You might not know this fact but when we will tell you, you will sense how you did not realize it yet.  The baritone in Tony the Tiger, the avatar for Frosted Flakes whose slogan was " They're Gr-r-reat! ”, was done by the Famous voice actor Thurl Ravenscroft who also sang the tune “You are a mean one, Mr. Grinch” in the TV movie ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas!’ which was produced in 1966. You must have heard about the famous Christmas Truce of 1914, where different troops such as British, French, Belgian and German laid down their guns and got united for gift exchanges, soccer matches and sing-alongs upon the Western Front. Various different stories are there to share experiences and explain the position of soldiers upon the western front but one of the British soldiers who fought with the second queen regiment Pvt. Albert Moreno described his experience of caroling on the battlefield with the enemy. He stated in an interview reprinted by Time “the Germans would sing one of their carols first and then we would sing ours, until when we started up ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’. They then instantly started singing the same carol in Latin words ‘Adeste Fideles’ and that was such an extraordinary moment – two nations in the middle of a war singing the same carol”.

Ableton Functionality and Comparison Ableton is a great DAW for music production, and it has many benefits over other DAWs such as FL Studio or Logic. Let's take a look at some of the pros and cons of Ableton. Ableton Pros and Cons Pros: - Huge range of functionality and community - Basic UI with great functionality, loved by beginners and professionals alike - Great for creating loops and samples with built in instruments and sound packs - Thousands of amazing presets available, plenty of free plugins Cons: - Some features can be confusing or overwhelming for beginners, a slight learning curve - Not the best choice for mastering or audio mixing, as better alternatives exist for that, such as Logic Pro and FL Studio. When compared to Ableton, fl Studio has some different pros and cons. Let's take a look at fl studio now. FL Studio Pros and Cons Pros: - Great range of free plugins available, more free plugins then any other DAW - Best DAW if you want to learn sound design from scratch, as it is very easy to use - Great selection of fl studio plugins, effects and instruments and huge community behind it Cons: - Can be a bit more complicated for beginners who do not have much experience with music production programs. This is because fl Studio does not provide as many helpful presets or pre made loops as Ableton. How do I make a beat loop in Ableton? Before you create and begin editing, you need to have an idea in mind. The first step is to create a new MIDI track. Perhaps you want to make a hop hop sound using hi hats and utilizing a drum rack. With the drums sound as a base, you can add a vocal piano loop or EDM sample. Layered on top of that can be instruments like trumpets, or audio clips of vocals - for example. This can be done by selecting "New" in the top left corner of Ableton, next to the play button, or by pressing Command-N (Mac) or Control-N (Windows). In the newly created MIDI track, select an instrument that you would like to use for your beat loop - such as the default Ableton drum kit. Alternatively you can choose from our selection of free instruments packs available on loopazon, ranging from Pianos to Guitars, vocals, and everything in between. Now, create a new clip by clicking the "Clip" button in the top left corner of Ableton, or pressing Command-N (Mac) or Control-B (Windows). You can also create a new clip by dragging an existing MIDI clip into the track's timeline. This can be done by making sure that the "Clip" button is selected (red), or by using the keyboard shortcut Command-Option-Down Arrow (Mac) or Control-Alt-Down Arrow (Windows). When adding any clip, loop, instrument, or sample, to Ableton, you'll notice a number of different features in the track's timeline. These include an overview, tempo, and key. The overview will show you a preview of the entire clip, while the tempo slider lets you adjust the speed of your beat loop. You can also change the pitch of your loop by clicking and dragging on the key icon. The most important part of making a great loop is finding the right groove for your track, which Ableton allows for. Now that you have created a basic loop, it's time to add some effects! Adding effects to your Ableton Beat There are a few different ways to add effects to your Ableton loop. One way is to use the "Reverb" effect, which can be found in the "Effects" tab on the right-hand side of Ableton. This will add reverb to your beat loop, and can be adjusted by clicking and dragging on the "Dry/Wet " knob controls. Other then instruments, another way to add effects is by using plugins, which you can find tutorials for how to use here . These can be added by selecting "Add Plugin" from the top left corner of Ableton, or by pressing Command- Shift -P (Mac) or Control-Shift-P (Windows). You can also find VST's (plugins) on our free music software page . When adding plugins, you'll notice that the track's overview will change to show the plugin's interface. This lets you control the parameters of each effect in real-time. Ableton also includes a number of built-in effects, which can be found by selecting "Add Built-In Effect" from the top left corner of Ableton, or by pressing Command- Shift -C (Mac) or Control-Shift-C (Windows). You can also add a new effect from the "Plugins" tab in Ableton's browser. Once you have added an effect, it will show up on your track, and you're ready to start making hit songs! Make a Drum Loop With Ableton We all love the drum sounds, with so many drum kits to choose from, picking the perfect drum samples can be hard? It is arguably the most important factor in how the track turns out, its the foundation for (hopefully) a great piece of music. If the foundation is faulty, you have already lost. The drums should be implemented with the passion of a master architect, lest it all comes crashing down. Master the base of the beat first, then you are golden, more is owed to drums then any sound or instrument, it's what gets stuck in your head and makes you want to groove - and play it over and over again. Ableton is perfect for making amazing drum loops. Check out this hip hop sound loop for an example of what sounds you can be creating using drum pads, loops, and instruments on this DAW. Ableton is the best software to make drum loops using Midi clips, or drum racks samples. It has a simple and easy interface, and among other things, allows you to add effects in real time, be it bass Midi patterns or Ableton live drum beat. Ableton's easy interface allows you to add effects in real time, ensuring that the beat loop has the right sound, whether 808 drums or a vocal loop. Spend less time on your computer trying to figure out how to make a drum loop and more time making hit songs with an excellent quality of music, all will love, and if you hit it just right - the billboards too! How Did Christmas Music Start?

12/16/2021
In the first Christian millennium, Easter held more importance than Christmas. There used to be few kinds of music that identified Christmas and Easter. The element that changed this was paganism. In the second Christian millennium, we witnessed a huge change in Christmas music genres specifically Carol (a song that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ), which was not for Christmas exclusively. The origin of carol seems so challenged and composite, but there are Anglo-Saxon round dances in its backwoods with choruses that are repeating and celebrating the winter season instead of the birth of Christ. But these words and melodies were proved handy for the Christian proselytization for similar groups like the Franciscans who gathered these melodies for their portrayals of Biblical stories focused on uneducated, non-Latin speaking common people. Explaining them Latin words by conversational restatements in the same lyrical way started the macaronic tradition which is based on mixed language. A perfect illustration of such tradition is “In Dulci Jubilo”, produced in the 14th century, with a perfect mixture of conversational and Latin words to an extraordinary, singable, trendy, and non-liturgical tune. There was another song “Angelus ad virginem” that gained huge success in France but changed to an English version after coming to England “Gabriel from heaven came (or King)” and instantly gained attention. (For more songs, visit: https://www.loopazon.com). Due to the extensive growth in Virgin Mary, Carols endured an extreme explosion in the 15th century. Notwithstanding the nativity accounts in St. Luke and an excess of worries about the Catholic Virgin Mary, there were some Protestant reformers in the 16th and 17th centuries that were undecided with regards to Christmas since they considered it non-biblical. In 1561, Scottish Kirk endeavored to boycott Christmas yet their strong stance mentality was conciliated, however, in Scotland the tradition of the new year being a higher priority has made due. Christmas was embraced by other protestant traditions. Christmas songs and hymns were developed in the 18th century (For more, visit: https://www.loopazon.com), with the most noticeable Christmas music of that time for example; Nahum Tate’s ‘While Shepherds Watched’ (1703) and John Byron’s ‘Christians awake’ (1745).  It has forever been hard to characterize Christmas as it needed to syndicate two things; a weak child’s birth in denied conditions and the manifestation of Gods’ child. In Handel’s “Glory to God” (1742) the presence of heavenly messengers was gloriously presented, representing the otherworldly side of the story. However, the powerless child side outperformed the extraordinary throughout the long term. Christmas traditions such as decorating trees, giving presents, and having drinks and food turned into an indispensable piece of the celebration during the 19th century. So, music accompanied these traditions and this is how Christmas music came into being. Prince Albert’s tree and Dicken’s Pickwick Papers illustrated the significance of presents, animals, and children.  Most of the familiar Christmas hymns of the 19th century appeared in children’s collections, unfortunately, such as CF Alexander’s “Once in Royal David’s City”, “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Away in Manger” (1885). A typical mixture of old words and a corrupted west gallery tune was contained in “The First Nowell” by Modern (1823) and William Sandy’s Christmas Carols Ancient. Originally “Jingle Bells” was written in Boston in 1857 for children’s Sunday school Thanksgiving celebration in America. (For Christmas music, visit: https://www.loopazon.com) In the 20th century, Christmas has been served in several different ways musically and the most contrasting way of all was Eric Milner White’s effort was creating a linkage with an unreal eternal ritual through the service of Nine Lessons and Carols for King’s College, Cambridge and the presence of more famous nostalgia around the celebration. Milner White’s assistance owed something to its being introduced soon after the abhorrence of World War I. Coming back through time in the candlelit wonderful qualities of King's sanctuary more likely than not appeared to be a method of making such 18th-century hymns as “Hark! The Herald” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful” are more consecrated and older. Christmas songs like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (1943) and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” (1942) were produced by the commercial secularization of Christmas. Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” summaries both these 20th-century thoughts in the words ‘just like the ones we used to know. Some of the Christmas music accidentally has become a part of a fanciful, yet powerful, amusement of an envisioned past. (Get more of Christmas music, only on https://www.loopazon.com). The folk music movement empowered the collection of Carols and “The Oxford Book of Carols (1928)” was a significant publication of the movement in the 20th century. The collected contained several carols such as Medieval Carols and Christmas songs from different countries and hence the term Carol started to mean Christmas songs in a larger sense. “Silent Night” is one of the most famous Christmas carols. People living in the United States must have few memories attached to its lines “silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright”. An Austrian priest named Joseph Mohr was the first legend behind the origin of this tune. He created this song with his friend Fran Gruber on a broken church organ. It is said that this song “Silent Night” was originally a poem written by Mohr, he had no idea that it would get such huge success that it would become one of the world’s legendary Christmas carols. There is another Christmas song “Twelve Days of Christmas” which was made in England in the 18th century. It is said that this song is a memory-and-forfeit game sung by children at the time. Another famous carol is “Joy to the World” and this one is quite different from other carols as it contains transparent Christian imagery and the lyrics are from Old Testament. This was not transformed into an official Christmas song until the 19th century.  On Christmas, singing holiday season songs goes hand in hand with baking Christmas treats and learning about the great Santa Claus and Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer. Every single thing around the holidays has a story, such as songs that have been preserved from getting erased forever to not knowing where this song came from. Then, some songs are not in the spirit of the holiday and one such example is “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer”. It has been everyone’s favorite since 1979 when it was produced by Elmo and patsy act, though it is not the best and appropriate caroling choice.  In this age, a Christmas without Christmas music is simply not a Christmas. Every medium where music can be played is flooded with Christmas music non-stop through December as soon as Thanksgiving is over. Hopefully, this article must have given you a wide knowledge about the birth of Christmas music. In the holiday traditions, caroling is still deeply entrenched in our hearts. About 16 percent of Americans were reported going Caroling in 2017, as per the reports of Pew Research Center. Caroling is considered to be one of the most ideal ways for people to get lost in the spirit of the holiday, whether it is a group of friends or family, or strangers. In the end, we just want to wish you a very happy Merry Christmas!

The Best Music Genre: Christmas Music!

12/07/2021
Trust us, there are few men profiles on Tinder which states that they are music fans except for country music and rap. Now, in this era, it is very problematic to talk about yourself in such a way where we have already moved past racism. Omnivority has long gone beyond the challenge, and there are seats around the table to recognize excellence in all genres. People crave to hear Christmas music in stores at this time of the year because it brings joy and happiness. The best part about traditional Christmas songs is that listening to these songs uplifts the mood and no matter what you are going through, you will feel instant energy in yourself.  Traditional Christmas songs talking about Jesus, Christmas time, people hustling and bustling, Santa bringing toys, snowy time, party time, jingle bells rocking around a goose, etc. are the most happening songs and they make Christmas music the best genre of all. Following are the pointers that we have gathered after research that proves that Christmas music is the best music genre. Religion I fall for this cliché of Jews who love Christmas infinitely: I am sure that many of us turned out to be lawyers as we were not given sufficient knowledge about magic in this world hence, we were overwhelmed with the notion of Santa Claus. However, I grew up with Charlie Brown and Christmas Carols. My mom used to book a spiral ham from the Honey Baked Ham Store for all of us to eat on Christmas eve. Hanukkah didn’t touch me the same way, besides Ma’oz Tzur, that old sad music of Old Country is a drawback. Disney songwriters should have been hired to produce Christmas songs so that we could have got something better than Dreidel's song. You don’t have to be Christian to love or appreciate religious Christmas music.  Perception of Time Summer songs come and go but winter music has its place. Blockbuster music hits of the past go into the “throwback” playlist and the “year-end” album clears the slate for future music hits. We talk about Bolt Cutters until a hit comes Punisher until another hit “folk-ver-more” comes. But when it is time for Christmas music to hit our radio stations, we all are set back to our beautiful memories attached to past Christmases. You are partying with your colleagues; you are enjoying semester break at home away from college or you are at a toy store “Toys R Us” looking at the most eye-catching toys. You start thinking about your family or grandparents whom you have not met in a while. Even the lowest Christmas music takes you back to your childhood and you start cherishing those beautiful Christmas memories.  Glitz and Glamour Two things go hand in hand in secular Christmas music and that is Sparkly lights and jazz standards. Unless it’s Mariah Carey or Lady Gaga people don’t take interest in this. This one month of Christmas celebrations let us enjoy ourselves in chintz and tinsel. It is all about celebrating ornamentation, this is why people love to buy ornaments for Christmas decorations. The aesthetic warm vibes of Christmas go beyond the Nat King Cole stuff to Motown, the genre that perfectly sums up the Christmas cheer.  Trends This is not wrong to say that every new Christmas music doesn’t try to agree to the most radio-friendly Christmas music on “let it snow” every year. But then some Christmas songs bend their way to shine out in the Christmas music canon, making their path and letting people realize the long-lost trend in classic holiday music.  Fun Percussion In the rest of the eleven months of the year, when do we likely to hear jingle bells? When do we hear ding-dong church bells? When do we hear big-band drumming? All these are fun, exciting yet experimental fixes of Christmas music and these fun staples remind us that how boring and dull these looks in the non-winter season. It is seen very rare that jingle bells are used in any non-Christmas music. Jingle bells are not only the main essence of Christmas music but are festive also, we should incorporate more of it the whole year.  Scream Along-Able Christmas Music It happens rarely that a song with a hooky chorus is produced and it makes us scream along with the song. This is the case with Christmas music that its chorus is so hooky that you can’t resist screaming along with the song.  If we analyze songs, we discover that around ninety-five percent of music is all about having fun and five percent is about relationships. Christmas music is solid proof that you can produce music by writing on topics besides romance, roasted nuts, etc., and still be on top of the charts. But Christmas music can be horny too! If you remember the movie “Eyes Wide Shut” is a Christmas movie you will realize Christmas is a very horny season. The Christmas music “Baby It’s Cold Outside” was misunderstood as a rape culture by the listeners but it was beautifully written and performed by the writer with his wife expressing his love for her. Talking about love, let’s talk about the famous 1980s couple Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, they looked perfect together in their album. Their musical timing and chemistry were brilliant throughout the Christmas music video. They looked so adorable together that people were kind of upset that they were not a real-life couple. Their Christmas song “Islands in the Stream” is served as their best achievement but “Once Upon a Christmas” is still their best work.  Brian Rabinovitz Ph.D., a neuroscientist at William and Mary who specializes in musical cognition, states that Christmas music is structured in a very pleasing way. For instance, the melody is saved in our brain’s prefrontal cortex when we hear a piece of music for the first time. Our brain keeps on looking for the same or somewhat similar melody and when we hear the same melody again the result is very comforting and satisfying.  Pop and Christmas music have somewhat predictable melodies as compared to other music genres. So, when we listen to Christmas songs the track of the music becomes more connected.  Dr. Rabinovitz explained in his press release: “Hearing something you know very well; you already have strong expectations. You’re making these predictions, having this moment of tension, and then realizing the prediction was correct.” And when we connect this theory with nostalgia, we realize why Christmas music makes us feel so touchy and emotional. Christmas songs tend to make you feel all joyous and emotional at the same time. It makes you feel happy and sad at the same time. You can find every song according to your mood in the Christmas music genre, whether you want to party or cheer up a sad mood. The sort of comfort you feel while listening to sad music is a kind of positive effect that is found in Christmas music that makes you cheerful. These are the reasons why Christmas songs give you all the feels and make you happy. All this summarizes that Christmas music is the best music genre.

Why Are Millennials Fan of Christmas Music?

11/26/2021
Millennials are known to be the generation that hypes almost everything and then be the buzz killer, but they are also the cheesiest generation that we have ever come across as per the new study done by Nielsen. It has been discovered in the survey that 36 percent of our Xmas music lovers are people aged between 18 years to 34 years. This is a shocking discovery for Americans who have seen the rise of streaming era and have witnessed the retail era going down. By comparing the “boomers and beyond” classification of 55 years plus audience there were only 25 percent of holiday music fans. These stats are shocking specifically when only two artists’, later than 1970, holiday music was played on the radio out of the top 10 Christmas songs which were Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is you” and Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo.”. Talking about Mariah’s “All I want for Christmas is you” it was produced in 1994, but still today it is alive in our hearts and it makes its place straight to the top of the charts around this season. Superstars like Ariana Grande and Fifth Harmony also came up with their versions of Mariah’s song to give it a millennial touch, not only this Mariah herself recorded this song with Justin Bieber and presented it to the younger audience. Whether it’s Christmas or not, you must have noticed the holiday music being played in the grocery stores around you usual than in previous years, it is because the trend is changing drastically and radio stations are cashing on this trend by playing Christmas music way earlier. If we look into the stats of streaming services such as Spotify, the heaviest airplay is for classic Christmas songs and music that is produced after 2010 but looking into the number of sales it is observed that people are more interested in buying new music releases but they chose to listen to old holiday music at home and work to cherish the memories attached to those Xmas songs.  Everyone is into thinking that what has gone into the millennial mind that they are off to the more ironic and classiest holiday season music. One of the main reasons behind this is their memories attached to the music which simply is called nostalgia. Not only in music, but this change is also visible in the television or fashion industry where the millennial taste is changing to the old classy types. It will not be wrong to say that millennials are kind of obsessed with older assets. Other reasons could be the political scandals being shown on the media all the time that makes everyone’s lives so tensed and boring and hence people wanted to enjoy their lives, maybe this Is the reason the younger generation is moving towards the old. Millennials are the kind of generation that doesn’t want serious content as their main motto is to enjoy their life. So, why will anyone prefer to watch a drama that seems like a tragedy instead they can go back to 1950 and listen to Ella Fitzgerald music or Maria’s music in 1994.  I feel that there is a strange type of comfort in holiday music. It seems that the brands of America offer the best escape route for the heart and the brain via their Christmas and holiday music. In Malcolm Harris book, “Kids These Days: Human Capital and The Making of Millennial”, he stated that Millennial are facing some sort of existential anxiety he further added: “Either we continue the trends we’ve been given and enact the bad future, or we refuse it and cut the knot of trend lines that defines our collectivity.” Christmas music has advanced completely and has turned into more sincerity and genuineness. If you listen to the Christmas music “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” or “Blue Christmas” you will feel that everything is broken or damaged.  The song testing one’s love for a holiday is “Baby It’s Cold Outside” but it is taken as an example of a poor understanding of consent by men. We are living in the area of #Me-too and what we can do about the song in which female singer is saying “The Answer Is No” and “Say, What Is in This Drink?” as she is linking this to her duet partner.  Millennials are in love with old Christmas music because they are introduced or exposed to Christmas music every year, so they have tons of memories attached to do songs. Moreover, we are touched by Christmas music in a certain way that no other music can do. Even if we don’t like a Xmas song after hearing it for the first time, we certainly fall in love with that song after hearing it again and again throughout our whole life. Every type of music hit certain pleasure centers of the brain, but only holiday music can hit that spot where memories are kept safely. Well, this could be one more reason for millennial falling in love with old holiday music. Since Millennials are now the genre’s biggest lovers, the appetite for holiday music has gotten bigger. So, if you think that Christmas music is not cool, you need to keep it to yourself because you are going to make Millennials angry (take this as friendly advice).  Take it or leave it, but there is no escaping. Christmas music is everywhere around you. It follows you from your favorite grocery store to a Coffee shop, it goes all the way to the entire radio station. As we are already halfway through November and this means that we are officially into the season of Christmas, and it is the right time to be on top of the charts again. There are different kinds of Christmas classic music like, old classics, the new classics, and the revamp of the old classics and, then there is a personal favorite by George Michael which is a sweet tale of holiday romance. If we go into the deeper calculation, there are about 500 radio stations only in the United States that broadcasts Christmas music for up to 24 hours. This shows that by December 25 th , approximately 360,000 hours of holiday music will be played across the United States only. To go deeper into the calculation, let us tell you that there are 8760 hours in a year and via 500 radio stations more than the value of 41 years of Christmas music is played every year for 30 days.  Talking about the love for old Xmas songs, here we are quoting a line from Bob Seger's song that he sang in 1979, “Today’s Music Ain’t Got the Same Soul, I Like That Old-Time Rock ‘N’ Roll.” We can see that this line is true to date because we have seen that Millennials are loving the old-time Christmas music more than the new ones. With all the love for old Christmas music by Millennial, there is also a chunk of people who are not into old music and they are a fan of new holiday songs. But this fact cannot oversee that no matter what Millennials are hungrier for old Christmas Classics rather than new hip-hop music and it is also proved that since old classics take them to their childhood or make their memories alive, they are more attached to those old classics and they want to remain attached to them.

Secret Recipe to Write a Perfect Christmas Song

11/05/2021
The Perfect Recipe to Writing a Christmas (Holiday) Song Writing a Christmas song is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires a certain connection and feelings attached to the song that every person can relate to. Famous pop stars like Elvis, Shakey, Cliff Richard, mark Smith sang their best versions of Santa songs at their time. And it is an extreme precision to deliver a song that is simple yet connectable. Different people have different perceptions about Christmas music. Some musicians like to produce music that is not only amusing on Christmas but other occasions as well. Whereas, some like to produce pure Christmas music that is relatable to everyone celebrating Christmas. With this approach, there has been a huge variety of music which includes both types of music that is mentioned before. To create soulful music, it is essential to think out of the box and there is no harm in breaking some rules if you are getting perfect music for your audience which serves as a treat to their ears. We have an example of Marvin Gaye’s “Christmas in the city” which is not relatable by anyone and it seems like an office party song. To create a smash hit Christmas party music, follow the guidelines below. Music that depicts love for Christmas To produce soulful Christmas music, one must love Christmas and it should be depicted in the music. Like Elvis did with his Christmas song “Merry Christmas Everyone” unlike Shakin Stevens whose music was unable to leave a mark on the audience. If your love for Christmas is not showing through your music it is not going to be connected with your audience. Other than love, is the deliverance of the music that matters a lot. For instance, Bob Dylan’s “Must Be Santa” was an amazing production but he was unable to connect to the audience because of his cartoonish way of deliverance.  Leap Of Faith Anything that is produced with the unnecessary need of talking about religion becomes an instant turn-off. So, it is advisable to only focus on the message that Christmas gives which is to be happy and celebrate every moment with your loved ones. A Christmas song is all about family, relationships, gifts, and most importantly Santa and his reindeer so this music hit should be produced in a way that it is globally accepted by everyone without hurting anyone’s sentiments over religion. Jingle Bells  A perfect Christmas song is not complete without the use of the Jingle bells sound because it gives essence to the whole music. Many artists used these sounds in their music like Phil Spector, Wizzard, Mariah Carey, and many more. But these sounds should be incorporated in a healthy amount otherwise the beauty of the music will be lost. The use of jingle bells differentiates the Christmas song from an ordinary song no matter what lyrics are used in the music, whenever you’ll hear jingle bells on any medium you will instantly realize that it is a Christmas song and this is what the real beauty of Christmas song is.  Be the Change Every December, you can bring the change and come up with a piece of music that showcases the problems in society and how can people help those in need to enhance the essence of Christmas as it is for everyone and not only for privileged people of the society. Call it a marketing technique or song composing, try to find a reason that you can associate with your music as people around Christmas tend to charity a lot so you have a golden chance to use this to ladder up in the charts of Christmas hits. You can even get in touch with several agencies to help you in composing hit music which will give you more exposure. As Slade’s Noddy Holder said: “It’s like winning a lottery every December 25 for the rest of your life.” Upbeat Tempo As Christmas is all about celebrating happiness, you must use a major key and upbeat tempo to produce a Christmas hit. The hits which are fun to listen to, happy and upbeat are produced with a major key consisting of 115 beats per minute which makes them the most popular holidays hits. This survey was done by Berklee College of Music.  Lost Love Christmas is a happy time where everyone seems to be celebrating with their loved ones but for some people, it is the loneliest time of the year. Every person has either a good or bad memory attached to Christmas, which they recall every year. This can be a good technique to use in music production so that people relate to it and look back. Such a hit that directly touches the heart of listeners is known as a melancholy song and is successfully used by artists like George Michael, Elvis Presley, Coldplay, etc. Writing about lost love or loneliness seems to have a great impact.  Christmas in Summer When we think about Christmas, all that comes to our mind is snow, foggy nights, log fires, etc., little did we know that all Christmas hits are shot in summer. Yes, you read it correctly so you need to produce your song in summer. Only in this case, you will be able to put forward your music in front of different publishers, TV, A&R, and movie production houses. Because everything for Christmas is already planned in summer and if you think to start prepping in December only then you might get a chance next year as there will not be any slot left you.  Catchy Melody Music that are produced on Christmas has one common thing and that is a catchy melody. It becomes impossible for listeners to not sing along if your music has a catchy melody. Try to incorporate simple yet relatable lyrics that are instantly attracted to the listeners and they become addicted to your song.  A Boston Conservatory musicologist Dr. Joe Bennette created a formula for the happiest song of Christmas ever which is “Love is not just for Christmas.” It is three minutes long featuring jingle bells jingling in the chorus mentioning Christmas word for 21 times that stimulated happiness in listeners. Dr. Joe said: “There is no simple formula for a successful song, and in practice, songwriters combine their own experience, musical skills, and personal creative preferences when writing.” Over 200 Christmas hits were examined by Dr. Joe focusing on the musical key, lyrics, vocals, and tempo. The pointers were made on the singer type, whereas nine broad themes were formed based on songs examined. The outcome of this examination was that the use of words like snow, peace, Santa, home, jingle bells, and love hold extreme importance in the chorus.  Following the above guidelines will help you compose a super hit Christmas song. Composing a Christmas hit is somewhat similar to composing an ordinary song, you just need to focus on the pointers that are important for a Christmas hit and then your music will be on everyone’s lips within no time. Create the next big hit!  Let us know you’re about your favorite Christmas song in the comment section.

How to Write Songs With Field Recordings

06/08/2021
In 1899, Ludwig Koch, then eight years old, recorded a popular shama on his father's wax cylinder recorder. Schaeffer invented the word "musique concrète" in the 1940s to describe the compositional process of looping, splicing, and reversing organic sounds. Together with John Cage, Brian Eno's ambient music was inspired by a spell in the hospital in the 1970s. He changed the way he listened, focusing on the beauty of soundscapes interacting as one. Artists using field recordings continues to rise as access and exposure to the activity grows. We've put up this guide with the help of musicians and intermedia artists to highlight field recording as a tool for sound and personal exploration and provide a general framework for how you might incorporate it into your own creative process. Read: Tips To Enhance Your Singing Voice Creating a fingerprints In 2021, finding someone who can recognize the sound of an electric or acoustic guitar will be difficult. Sites like Equip board can rapidly pin down the specific make and model of guitars, amps, and effects used by your favorite musicians, in addition to a vast library of YouTube tutorials and videos. Field recordings, on the other hand, add an element of surprise right away, allowing an artist to create a fingerprint—a distinct audio aspect that isn't bound by standard instrumentation. “In the universe, there are literally an unlimited number of sounds. I like the concept that people who listen to my music won't be able to figure out what I'm doing or how I'm doing it,” Leah Toth says. She heavily treats (edits or manipulates) her field recordings under the Amelia Courthouse name to further generate a sense of agency and, with regards to the original source, claim ownership over the music she's creating. Field recordings, whether altered or unaltered, frequently evoke a sense of place, time, or recollection. While a song or a guitar riff can hint to a concept, field recordings provide a direct link to the source. Field recordings, according to Matthew Sage (M. Sage), serve a dual purpose: they provide space and color to tracks while also infusing emotional value. All of the outdoor recordings on The Wind of Things (2021) were made in places where Sage had sailed or walked as a child. “There's an emotional tenderness to it that the audience isn't responsible for understanding, but I believe they can sense it. That's what's important to me,” he continued. Accessibility and confidence: Field recording is a highly accessible songwriting tool. It carries a punk ethos. There is no degree required or predetermined notions of success. The art of field recording shifts the mindset of scarcity to abundance. Karima Walker and Danny Greenwald are a duo from New York City-based band Glassine. Walker and Greenwald have been playing together since high school. Greenwald says he's not skilled enough to play a full-blown trumpet. The duo plays keyboards, tape recorders, guitar pedals and other non-expensive instruments. Walker agrees, saying that while never feeling great at a single instrument, she's come to appreciate the potential of using her ear as a compositional tool. Greenwald advises newcomers to "not feel awkward" about using their iPhone in the outdoors. Toth and her husband have amassed a lot of cheap gadgets over the years, but she still uses her phone a lot. I feel like I'm taking little parts of music from anyplace I go when a piano is present since that I don't have a true piano in my home. This also keeps me from overthinking portions or arrangements; I just do what comes naturally to me.” Read: Tips To Brand Yourself as a Musician A sense of wonder and adventure: The inability to get out of one's own way is a common stumbling block for songwriters. Staring at a DAW, a blank workstation waiting for you to push record and strike gold, might make you feel anxious. We have a tendency to think of songwriting as a sedentary activity. Field recording is a significantly more active endeavor, infused with a feeling of enchantment and adventure. “You're not watching the recording; you're watching the world. “You're putting more pressure on your ears than on your eyes,” Sage explained. It's an opportunity to cultivate shoshin, or 'beginners' mind,' which involves listening with an open mind and a sense of wonder. A Compositional Tool: If you've exhausted all of your other options, incorporating field recordings into your work might push you to try something new. To add colour and space to a track, consider placing all of your files in stereo, or treating a sound to simulate a genuine instrument or rhythm. Having a backlog of field recordings to listen to might also assist you answer two of the most difficult questions: “How should I get started?” and “How should I finish?” and “Is there anything else missing?” If working within constraints is helpful, you might leave all of your found sounds in their raw form or manipulate them to where they are no longer recognizable. The original sounds can remain just as sacred—no one is going to patent or trademark a bird's song. Read: 7 Most Important Sections for Your Artistic Website Mindfulness and Healing: You must pay carefully if you want to make music from field recordings. Allowing oneself to halt and listen to the noises around you is also a form of mindfulness practice. Pauline Oliveros was a composer who championed deep listening. She argued that compassion and understanding come from listening impartially to the whole space / time continuum. "My approach is rooted in Oliveros' work, where we are the listening bodies," Sage says. "Everyone has the potential to be a listening body. It's a choice you have to make," he says.
